Akio Fujiwara
Vice Minister, Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology, Japan
Akio Fujiwara was appointed to his role in 2023. Prior to this he was Director-General of the Education Policy Bureau, Director-General for Secretariat of the Headquarters for the Promotion of the Tokyo Olympic and Paralympic Games and Director-General at the Agency for Cultural Affairs. His other roles in the ministry include Director of the Policy Division of the Elementary and Secondary Education Bureau and Director of the University Promotion Division. Previously, he was Secretary to the Minister of Education, Minister's Secretariat, First Secretary at the Embassy of Japan to France and served in the Ministry of Education, Science, Sports and Culture. He graduated from the Faculty of Law at the University of Tokyo.
