Dr Giorgi Amilakhvari

Dr Giorgi Amilakhvari was appointed as Minister of Education, Science and Youth of Georgia in 2023. In his role he is responsible for general education, Higher Education, science, vocational education and Youth Field. He is also member of the IAUP (International Association of University Presidents). He entered Parliament in 2020 and was chair of the Education and Science Committee and member of the Legal Education Standards Development Council. Prior to this, he was Deputy Chairman of the Accreditation Council in Accreditation of Higher Education Programmes,and Rector and Associate Professor at Tbilisi Open University. He graduated with an academic degree Doctor of Law from the Max Planck Institute for Comparative and International Private Law in Hamburg. He has a Bachelor's and Master's degree in Law from the Tbilisi State University.
