Dr Ismail Shafeeu

Dr Ismail Shafeeu is Minister of Education in the Maldives. Prior to his current position, he was Deputy Minister. He has played pivotal roles in shaping the educational landscape of the nation, in policy formulation in education and has made significant contributions to higher education. He served as Dean of the Islamic University Research Centre and he is the recipient of awards such as the Commonwealth Scholarship Award and the Award of Scholastic Achievement from the University of Malaya. He began his career as a chemistry teacher. He holds a PhD from the University of Durham and a Master’s Degree from the University of Malaya.
