MP, Prime Minister’s Special Envoy for Girls’ Education, England
Helen Grant was appointed Prime Minister’s Special Envoy on Girls’ Education in 2021 where she helps to accelerate progress towards getting more girls, in the world’s poorest countries, into schools so they can benefit from quality learning. Working closely with international partners, she encourages greater global ambition, coordination and an investment in girls’ education. In addition to her current role, she is also the Prime Minister’s Trade Envoy to Nigeria. Prior to this, she was Parliamentary Under Secretary of State for Sport and Civil Society, Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State, Minister for the Courts and Victims and Parliamentary Under Secretary of State for Women and Equalities. She served on the Justice Select Committee until 2011 and was appointed to the Conservative social justice policy group in 2006. She joined Iain Duncan Smith’s think-tank at the Centre for Social Justice, for which she has written extensively on family policy. She practised as a family solicitor after studying law at Hull University.
